The Požega valley and its fields are crisscrossed by many groves. Because of that and thanks to the vast, lush forests on the hillsides of the Požeška Gora and Dilj Gora hills as well as the Krndija, Papuk and Psunj Mountains not far from the city, Požega can be your base for the perfect hunting weekend.
The rivers that flow thru Požega, the Orljava and Veličanka, may be smaller than the better known Slavonian big rivers, “fisherman’s paradises” of the Danube, Drava and Sava, but not far from the city you’ll find many fishponds rich in fish species such as carp, pike and catfish. Unlike the “big rivers”, in the creeks coming down from the surrounding mountains, you’ll also find the native Brown trout as well as Californian trout.
