Immediately next to St. Theresa Square there is the Old town, a hill located in the very centre of town where there used to be the old Požega fortress, dating back to 1227. Nowadays it is a park and promenade, decorated according to Vilim Just’s design from 1877. The promenade bore the name Strossmayer but today it is usually known as Stari grad.
