The history of the railway in Po\u017eega is long, considering it took the whole second half of the 19th century to build it. It was first planned that Po\u017eega should lay on the mainline from Zagreb do Belgrade but in 1896 the railway line was built as a local line. However, it was enough for the city to experience significant economical growth.
