Florijana streets meet, stands the neo-renaissance building of the County court erected in 1896 by the architects Deutsch and H\u00f6ningsberg. In the oval middle section of the building, there is a niche with the statue of St. Florian, a patron saint against fires. Paintings and statues of this patron saint can be found in more locations around town, such as the one on the facade of the Fire brigade\u2019s house because in its history Po\u017eega experienced many tragic fires. The most horrific was the one in 1779 after which the city was rebuilt in today&#8217;s typical baroque style.
