The building was built as a one-storey building in 1726 for the needs of the Po\u017eega Lyceum. Academia Posegana, which operated from 1761 to 1776, was once situated in this building.\u00a0 With faculties of philosophy and theology, it mostly aimed at educating priests ordained in the Slavonian part of the Zagreb archdiocese which used to be under the Ottoman rule. After the new building for the Po\u017eega Lyceum was built, the Sisters moved into the building of \u201cthe old Jesuit Lyceum\u201d.Thanks to the gift of the archbishop of Zagreb, the Sisters founded a civic grils\u2019 school in the jesuit building between St. Lawrence Church and the convent, in the former St. Lawrence Church musicians\u2019 building. During the late 19th century urbanization efforts, a second floor and outbuildings were added to the building. To complement the education they provided, the Sisters built a two-storey building next to the convent to be used as a girls\u2019 homemaker school.
