The building of the city museum is situated on the western part of the Holy Trinity Square and being one of the town’s oldest secular buildings it is considered a jewel of baroque architecture. It was constructed at the beginning of the 18th<\/sup> century as a business and residential building with its gable facing the square. Its facade is decorated with pilasters, and beneath it, on the ground floor on the northern and eastern wall of the building there are \u201ebolte\u201d which continue to the Klezinger house towards the City Hall. Being a cultural constant of Po\u017eega and its region, after more than 95 years of existence, The City Museum of Po\u017eega is on the threshold of opening a large, comprehensive permanent exhibition on about 600 m2, which connects the complex of three representative buildings in the heart of town in a circular flow with an interesting museological concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum building is located only a few meters away from the City Hall, built in the baroque style with vaults, arcades typical for Po\u017eega and other cities of northern Croatia in the 18th century. It is considered to be one of the oldest buildings in the city and was built by the Thaller family. In the central corner of the building, there is a niche with the statue of the Virgin Mary which gives this building a kind of special charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum as an institution was founded in 1924 by a known local historian and former mayor Julie Kempf and it moved into this building in 1953.
