If you like cycling around the countryside roads through different terrains varying between lowlands, hills and mountains, then Po\u017eega and the region around the city might be a very good pick for your active holiday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0All marked cycling routes in the Po\u017eega-Slavonia County can be seen in the following\u00a0link<\/a>\u00a0or you can visit the tourist info-centre of the Tourist Board of Po\u017eega in the city tourist office and take a paper version of the cycling routes map.<\/p>\n \u00a0In this website we\u2019ll describe some of the cycling routes which are nearest to Po\u017eega and not too demanding for you or your bicycle. They will take you on round trips through the city countryside, from the well-known picnic and camp site named \u201cZlatni Lug\u201d, through fields and forests, mostly on asphalt and partially on pebble roads. Some sections will be flat while some might be even steep. There turn left and ride along the riverbank all the way to Cerni\u010dka ulica street. When you arrive to the long road curve which leads the main road to the right, turn left and drive next to the family houses towards the Ulica Luka street. Then turn right towards Frankopanska ulica street and then left in the direction of Donji Emovci village and the \u201cZlatni Lug<\/a>\u201d restaurant. Ride thru the village of Emova\u010dki Lug past the Zlatni Lug campsite and after a mild ascent, continue the ride thru the fields towards the small village of Nova Lipa.<\/p>\n If you feel like ending your bike ride here and you wish to return to the city, you can turn left at the crossroads towards the village of Stara Lipa and in the village centre take another left turn and drive along the football field towards the village of Emova\u010dki Lug and then as before continue towards the city centre. To complete this shorter circle it will take you about one hour.<\/p>\n If you wish to experience the whole cycling route, for which you will need about two hours, at the fore mentioned crossroads in the village of Nova Lipa continue straight thru the shadowy grove towards the small village of Ugarci. After that, the asphalt road will turn into a pebble one so be ready for some dust under your wheels and in your hair. Drive along a small forest on your left side and when you get to the crossroads with a small field road, continue up the steep hill along the \u201cS\u201d shaped turn towards the village of Malinovac.<\/p>\n As you ride further, on your left side you will pass next to a forested valley and thru lush orchards. Ride further towards the village of Oljasi where you will get back to an asphalt road. In the village, turn left and continue up and down the main county towards the village of Lu\u010dinci. In the village, turn left and continue down the local road thru the fields and groves towards the village of Perenci. This area is rich with the wild game so be aware of rabbits and roe deer that can run across the road at any time while in the afternoons and during the night you should expect to see foxes and wild boars. Once you pass thru the village of Po\u017ee\u0161ki Br\u0111ani, you will be in for a big treat. Right in front of you, you will see a long steep descend thru the forest and at the end of the road you will see the church in the village of Skenderovci.<\/p>\n Please be aware that this is a very steep road so do not ride your bicycle to fast. Once you get to the church, follow the cycling signs and turn left towards Po\u017eega. Drive thru the fields towards the little village of Jaguplije and once you get to the \u201cT\u201d shaped crossroads in the centre of the village, go right until you get to a \u201cY\u201d shaped crossroads. There go left and continue thru the groves up a not too steep road to the village of Stara Lipa. When you enter the village, turn left and then right next to the chapel and drive along the football field as you leave the village. Continue again thru the fields and next to the motor cross racing ring towards the village of Donji Emovci. Thanks to the mountain ring at the western end of which our town is located, this part of Slavonia will remind many visitors of certain areas of mountainous Croatia.<\/p>\n The hilly, almost mountainous western Slavonia and the fertile Po\u017eega Valley offer a wide range of opportunities for hiking, mountaineering, and other mountain activities such as paragliding and the previously mentioned mountain biking.<\/p>\n Although we have already described the easier hiking trails on the slopes of Po\u017ee\u0161ka Gora, such as the “Winegrower’s Path” and the “Sokol Path” in the Nature & Recreation section, the town and its nearby surroundings also offer more challenging hiking routes.<\/p>\n Most of the most attractive hiking trails are located in the Papuk Nature Park, but true mountaineering enthusiasts will be drawn to the Slavonian Hiking Trail, which can begin and end in Po\u017eega, passing through the Po\u017ee\u0161ka and Dilj Mountains, Krndija, Papuk, and Psunj. This demanding route with 35 checkpoints is 400 km long, reaching heights of up to 954 meters above sea level at Papuk, and even the most experienced hikers will need at least 80 hours to complete it.
